Prime Minister: In a country at war, where is the peace?

Sihanoukville: The Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Sen, made a statement on the value of human rights on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of International Human Rights Day (December 10, 2022), questioning where human rights are in the country there is war.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 9th Sea Festival 2022 on the evening of December 10, 2022 in Sihanoukville, PM Hun Sen said that peace is worth everything. If the country cannot find peace, do not talk about development or human rights.

He said that Cambodia had sent peacekeepers to Mali and Sudan and saw that there were no tourists present.

"No one can test with landmines, shells and bombs in war zones," he said. "Today is the anniversary of International Human Rights Day, but human rights can only be achieved if there is peace. Obviously in a war-torn country, where is the peace?"

"Peace" is the word that PM values most in his leadership. He has often reminded the value of peace and encouraged the people to participate in maintaining the peace that Cambodia is having.
